Ummmm….hi.

My little Anna turned 3!

Anna turned 3 and her great grandfather turned 99!

So this working mom thing really kicked me in the tushy more than I thought it would. All of a sudden I took a six month blogging break. I really thought I would be able to keep up the blog, but obviously that wasn’t the case. Sorry to leave you wondering. One thing I didn’t mention before is that I was taking 2 classes  on top of going back to work. Woooeeee. That was crazy.

I want to thank those of you who have been still checking in on me and sending me nice comments and emails. Even though I have been a stinker at responding, I have read them all and they mean a lot.

I had to make a decision about a month ago to either let the blog end for good or keep it going. Well, you can see that I’m still here. Yay!

One thing I’m realizing is that I might have to make myself let go of my perfectionistic procrastination. Anyone else have that? If things can’t be “perfect” (or as perfect as I can get them), then I put it off until I think I can make it perfect-enough to be worth doing. So silly.

And it seems really weird to me that I’m trying to be perfect about showing you what a mess I am. Well, I am trying to show that I can clean up, too, I suppose.

So I’m going to try to get going here again. I’m still working, but my classes are finished, so I think that will help. I might not have all of the “perfect” before and after shots, but something is better than nothing, right?

I’ve missed you and I’m glad to be back!

Welcome Back! I did miss you.
You and your life are so honestly ‘real’ that it is a pleasure to learn and grow with you. Congratulations to the birthday girl and the birthday great grandfather!

    Hello! Welcome back!! Great pictures!

  3. Michaela

Welcome back- I wondered what happened! I was just thinking about you the other day wondering if you would return.

Yay! So excited to see you back here! I TOTALLY suffer from ‘procrastinate til it’s perfect’ syndrome. Then I end up doing all last minute or not doing it at all. Ugh! Glad I’m not alone.

Yay – so glad to see you pop up in my feed reader again! I have to keep reminding myself that ‘the perfect is the enemy of the done,’ since that’s absolutely a trap that I fall into. (And one that comes up a lot when I watch / read about others who struggle with clutter, too – although you might not guess it to look at our homes and to-do lists, I think that we’ve got more than our fair share of perfectionists among us!)

Yay! I’m so glad to see you back! I know I have not been good about saying so, but I have been praying much for you and for your family. I can’t imagine how crazy things have been for you, and I didn’t even know that you were taking classes on top of everything! I totally get that “procrastinating until perfection thing,” though I am improving a bit in that area.

  7. I’d been checking over here and wondering about you and whether you’d return. I really did love reading your posts so I’m excited to see you back! Oh yes, I understand that procrastination thing quite well. I always think of it as until I “have time to do it right” which is silly because there is never time to do it right. I have to constantly remind myself that something is better than nothing.

  10. It’s great to finally read another post!

  11. So nice to see you back! I’m sure it’s been a really hectic time. I took on a full time job about six months ago too (well, from now that is, which is August) as my spouse’s health has not been good, so I know it does take a long time to get used to the “new normal” and get your feet under you. You must be adjusting to be able to start blogging again. I’m looking forward to seeing how the systems you put in place made it through all the changes!

Hi Jan Elizabeth! It was so nice to see a comment from you, especially since most of the comments I’ve been getting lately have been spam! I’m sorry your spouse’s health has not been good. I hope your job is going well. My systems pretty much all eventually fell apart from lack of maintenance. Some stayed longer than others, though. I do have some positive momentum going now, though, so look for some new posts from me. 🙂
